Many tools show the spectrum, but this tool focuses on one or two specific octaves with an indication of the tonica (the key) and sub-dominant(IV) and dominant(V). It also supports wavelet transformation and resampling to further analyze and clean-up the recording. This way, notes, chords, and harmonics in a musical piece become more clear. Another feature is that this tool can compare audio output (from a .wav file) with audio input (microphone). This way, external filters added between the audio out and in and the effects of a sound card can be studied.

Jazz scale / chord study

Emphasizes a minimum of scales in the context of any typical jazz tune you specify.
Your entire jazz chart is evaluated, not just single chords in isolation.
You can either manually enter chords or import chord symbols from Band-in-Box files.
Scale suggestions are based on a careful mixture of experience and conventional music theory.
Both summary and detail reports can be printed out for each chord chart.
The program may be used for free in limited Shareware mode, or it can be registered enabling all features.
Music reading is not required (but is encouraged).
Scales covered include: Major, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, Jazz Minor (aka Melodic Minor Ascending), Dorian, Pentatonic, Blues, Diminished, Whole Tone, Dominant Seventh (aka Mixolydian mode).
THE PROGRAM IS NOT INSTRUMENT SPECIFIC, but guitar scale and chord diagrams are provided in "HELP". You need only have some command of the pentatonic scale to get started. Most scales are diagrammed as variations of the pentatonic scale (which is also diagrammed).
The "HELP" documentation contains a basic theory lesson.
