Final Word: Document encryption macro. Free
Final Word is a Microsoft Word 97 document that encrypts its contents using an algorithm which simply iterates through the encryption code adding the ASCII value of each code character to each ASCII value of each respective character throughout the document. No U.S. export restrictions apply.
Upon opening Final Word, a custom menu ("Personal") is created which gives access to the macros that encrypt the document. The encryption macro can be password protected. The encryption code can be full sentences including numbers and any keyboard characters. Every character in the code that is used to encrypt the document MUST be used to decrypt the document. When unscrambling a document, if the code is altered by even one character, the document may be rendered irretrievable. Many symbols that are added by Word's "Auto Text" feature are not encrypted or decrypted. When the characters: ": -)" are automatically replaced with a smiley face, the smiley face will
not remain after encryption/decryption.
